Who are we hiring?
We’re seeking an Event Production Specialist to support the successful execution of live events at the iconic Chicago Theatre. This role plays a key part in coordinating production logistics for concerts, comedy shows, family entertainment, and special events.
The Event Production Specialist will collaborate with internal departments, external vendors, and labor teams to ensure smooth operations from pre-event planning through load-out. This position requires a proactive communicator with a strong attention to detail and a passion for live entertainment.
What will you do?
- Assist in advancing production details with clients and internal teams, ensuring all event requirements are clearly communicated and executed.
- Support the coordination of staging, lighting, sound, seating configurations, and staffing needs.
- Maintain production documentation and assist with budget tracking and reconciliation.
- Create and update AutoCAD drawings for seating maps and event layouts.
- Liaise with union and non-union labor teams to ensure compliance with work rules and safety protocols.
- Provide on-site support during load-in, show execution, and load-out.
- Respond to event-day issues and assist in resolving operational challenges quickly and professionally.
- Contribute to post-event evaluations and help identify areas for improvement.
What do you need to succeed?
- Completion of at least 60 college credit hours or equivalent experience through certifications or trade school.
- 2–4 years of experience in live event production or venue operations.
- Familiarity with technical production elements such as rigging, power distribution, and safety standards.
- Basic understanding of union labor environments, especially I.A.T.S.E, I.B.E.W, and Theatrical Teamsters.
- Working knowledge of building codes and fire safety regulations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
Special Requirements
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable working in a 24/7 live entertainment environment with frequent evening events.
