Who are we hiring?
The Manager, Employment Law leads the drafting of employment related contracts and agreements, oversees immigration compliance and strategy (including visa petitions, I-9 compliance, and work authorization guidance) and provides support on employment-related litigation and risk mitigation efforts. The Manager is expected to leverage employment law subject matter expertise to operate independently, collaborate effectively and drive sound, risk-informed decision-making. The Manager reports to the SVP, Associate General Counsel responsible for Employment Law across the MSG Family of Companies.
What will you do?
- Serve as the first point of contact with a subset of internal clients, triaging legal and policy-related inquiries and recommending solutions in work authorization and contract administration.
- Manage the immigration docket, including reviewing and revising petitions (with expert immigration counsel) and addressing complex I-9 and work authorization questions.
- Draft agreements and potential revisions to standard agreements; track agreements through execution and renewal and maintain organized records of drafts and completed agreements.
- Provide employment litigation support, including coordinating document collection for subpoenas and discovery, preparing litigation hold notices, and tracking and managing litigation-related deadlines, calendars, and obligations.
- Prepare and maintain trackers for key initiatives and matters to ensure deadlines are met and metrics can be easily supplied.
- Oversee complex administrative processes related to employment matters.
What do you need to succeed?
- 5-8+ years previous experience supporting in-house legal teams, preferably with at least 2 years working in the employment law function
- B.A. degree or equivalent experience; Law degree is a plus
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and managing various types of employment and vendor contracts and related documentation.
- Experience managing immigration matters, including coordinating with outside counsel, reviewing and revising petitions, and handling complex I-9 and work authorization issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and advanced computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Outstanding prioritization and organizational skills, including the ability to execute multiple, high-priority projects on short timeframes and manage projects from start to finish
- Ability to build and manage effective working relationships across all levels of an organization and to thrive in a matrixed, collaborative, team-oriented environment.
