VP Production Finance

Who are we hiring?

VP Production Finance will be in charge of Production Finance providing financial oversight throughout the life-cycle of production, from Development through Post Production. Knowledgeable about all aspects of complex multinational Productions with hands-on experience with a variety of Feature Film production (both foreign and domestic). Supervise budgeting and cost reporting during pre-production, production and post-production phases. Serve as point of contact between studio and productions, working directly with physical production, business affairs and legal teams. Responsible for hiring freelance accounting staff and management of accounting teams in the field, managing production incentives, film subsidy collections (applications, audits, receipt tracking) and compliance, and familiar with and accustomed to working in an environment with high levels of confidentiality, plus be able to provide quick and accurate analysis.

What will you do? 

  • Serve as the main point of contact for the financial operation of multiple original productions
  • Establish Studio Chart of Accounts for both GL and Cost Accounts.
  • Establish production finance policy & procedure, including a production finance manual and manage compliance for this policy
  • Oversee preparation of initial budget drafts and cost summaries for projects,
  • Supervise budgeting and cost reporting during pre-production, production and post-production phases.
  • Assist with cash planning, currency, tax and banking requirements to support productions.
  • Source and hire location production accounting teams for projects.
  • Work with show Accountants to drive accurate, complete, and timely cost reporting
  • Review work in progress / final budgets, and Cost Report EFC's for accuracy, providing coverage of concerns to the Production & Finance Executives. Provide insight into potential areas of risk and opportunity.
  • Manage the production cashflow / funding processes from beginning to end.
  • Reconcile all funding and Production Incentives between production and corporate Research, apply, monitor, collect and ensure compliance of film subsidies worldwide for assigned productions.
  • Manage audits in conjunction with production & legal. 
  • Provide support on special projects, as required. 

What do you need to succeed? 

  • BS in finance or accounting preferred. 
  • 10+ years of studio finance experience in production finance roles
  • Experience with international productions and knowledge of tax incentive programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of various production accounting software: Movie Magic Budgeting, Scenechronize, EP Smart Accounting, Vista, PSL, MediaWeb, and Greenslate.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment, as well as within a broader corporate matrix environment.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Superior communication skills and exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel on location or to corporate offices.

Pay Range
$193,000$325,000 USD
