Senior Multiplayer Engineer

Who are we hiring? 

As a Senior Software Engineer at Sphere Entertainment Company, you’ll contribute to both new and existing projects, collaborating to develop tools and code, driving system performance, and sharing your knowledge and experience with the team as we create massively-multiplayer games for Sphere, a new entertainment venue in Las Vegas. Ideal candidates bring extensive experience with online multiplayer and distributed systems and architecture, a deep understanding of C++ programming (Unreal Engine), along with creative vision and a passion for delivery. 16K visuals. 60fps performance. 164,000 speaker audio. 20,000 players per shard. What will you do? 

  • Prototype and test new game systems and features using Unreal Engine  
  • Architect, develop, and maintain high-quality, efficient multiplayer experiences. 
  • Create and document reusable code as an individual contributor.  
  • Review and provide meaningful feedback to other team members on best practices.   
  • Analyze technical and design documentation and requests, translating them into discrete and manageable engineering tasks.  
  • Collaborate across departments (gameplay engineering, infrastructure, design, QA) to deliver tools and features on schedule.  
  • Stay on top of the latest industry developments, sharing key findings with the team at regular intervals. Attend and update in daily scrums, bi-weekly sprint planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives in accordance with the team’s Agile practices.  

What do you need to succeed?  

  • Computer Science BS/MS or equivalent experience  
  • 5+ years professional multiplayer gameplay engineering experience Expertise in software development using the Unreal Engine and C++. 
  • Excellent communications and team relations skills   

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with mobile and PC / console game development.  
  • Knowledge of network architecture, microservices, and client/server architecture  
  • Shipped at least one title with senior-tier contributions to multiplayer / network systems. 
  • Understanding of DevOps concepts and QA methodologies.  
  • Experience working in an Agile team and familiarity with Agile methodology.

$164,000$195,000 USD
