Who are we hiring?
The Director Garden of Dreams Foundation Programming is responsible for the development, staffing and execution of hundreds of events and experiences that the Foundation conducts on an annual basis. This includes overseeing ongoing events and programs including the Knicks, Rangers, MSG Entertainment, Make A Wish programming and Dream Come True experiences. The Director will also support management of the Foundation’s budget and financial planning and processes. The position serves as the main contact for planning and management of many Garden of Dreams Foundation programs, as well as their staffing and onsite execution. The position serves as the main contact for the thirty (30) Garden of Dreams Foundation partner organizations and will foster relationships with management, day-to-day personnel, families and youth to support the Foundation and its impact. The Director oversees the multi-million budget for all aspects of program experiences and events and ensures adherence to budget parameters.
What will you do?
- Responsible for the full portfolio of Garden of Dreams Foundation (GDF) programming, driving collaboration and execution across MSG brands and GDF partner initiatives to maximize reach and impact
- Manages partner relationships with 30 GDF partner organizations to ensure positive impact and issue resolution
- Lead the strategic vision and direction for all GDF programs, shaping long-term goals, priorities and impact initiatives aligned with the Foundation’s mission
- Direct the planning, production, and execution of the GDF’s signature events, including the annual GDF Talent Show, to deliver a cohesive, high-impact experience for young people
- Manages a team of nonprofit professionals and is responsible for their professional development
- Oversee activities on a day-to-day basis, including all planning, divisional coordination, budget management, external partners management, project execution and follow-up
- Responsible for managing program budget and ensuring resources are managed appropriately to achieve objectives and impact partner organizations.
- Responsible for working with counterparts across the Madison Square Garden Family of Companies and the Vice President and Executive Vice President leading GDF on development and execution of high-profile events that include youth, celebrities and press, including Knicks, Rangers, MSG Network and MSG Entertainment, mentorship programming, Make A Wish programming and Dream Come True experiences
- Oversees the distribution and accounting of thousands of ticket and suite donations annually
What do you need to succeed?
- A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in the non-profit community
- Significant experience in the executing youth-centered events in a variety of environments
- At least five years’ experience with NYC community based organizations serving children
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Team player and work well with all levels (from entry level to Senior Management)
- Experience leading and managing teams
- Proficiencies with development and management of budgets
- Extremely organized manager and thinker
- Advanced degree preferred but not required
