Who are we hiring?
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting aspects related to the Company’s Food, Beverage & Merchandise business. The Senior Accountant will provide accounting support to the business operators and P&L leaders along with their respective departments at all MSG owned venues. The Senior Accountant will assist with the monthly closing process, account analysis, quarterly external, internal, and tax reporting packages.
What will you do?
- Responsible for aspects of accounting for food, beverage and merchandising transactions as relate to MSG’s live, sports and productions events including posting of revenue and accrual entries, analysis and reconciliation of P&L and balance sheet accounts by event.
- Responsible for journal entries related to the Company’s F&B systems, tenders, tips, and credit card settlements.
- Responsible for monthly account reconciliations and analysis.
- Provide services to MSG Sports as outlined in the arena license agreements and other related party agreements.
- Assist and support the Senior Manager Accounting as needed.
What do you need to succeed?
- 2+ years of public accounting experience, Big 4 preferred, or 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced, large public company environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Finance or Accounting preferred, CPA strongly preferred
- Ability to research and resolve variances.
- Advanced Excel, analytical, accounting, and financial skills are required.
- Experience on the monthly close process.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and open to learning new ways of working.
- Ability to embrace change with a flexible mindset, even if the way forward isn’t clear.
- Ability to be a reliable team member, capable of effective collaboration to achieve our shared goals across teams and departments.
