As Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSG Entertainment), Sandra Kapell is responsible for human resources and administrative functions, including performance management, learning and development, benefits and compensation, HR systems and internal communications, among other areas. Also under Ms. Kapell’s purview is leading these functions at Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports) and Sphere Entertainment Co.
Ms. Kapell joined MSG in January 2016 from Cablevision Systems Corporation, where she held the position of Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Administration. During her three-year tenure with Cablevision, Ms. Kapell played an instrumental role in the company’s transformation by developing HR and administrative programs that fostered a skilled, high performing workforce and reinvigorated the culture. She championed a number of initiatives that created a compelling employee experience and positioned Cablevision for success.
Previously, Ms. Kapell served as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Chartis, an AIG company, where she was a key leader in developing and implementing performance and talent management practices that led to the successful recovery of AIG. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice President of MetLife and served in numerous senior HR and operations roles.
Throughout her career, Ms. Kapell has been a strong advocate for the advancement and professional development of women in the workplace. In 2011, she was recognized with a Top 10 Women in Business award by PINK, a leading digital platform for career women. She was named a Wonder Woman by Multichannel News and Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). Ms. Kapell also serves on the board of directors of the Garden of Dreams Foundation, a non-profit organization that works with MSG Entertainment, MSG Sports, and Sphere Entertainment to assist young people in need.
Ms. Kapell received her Masters in education from Columbia University and her Bachelors in English from the University of Washington.
