Who are we hiring?
The Show Technology Department oversees the technical aspects of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes, from inception to operations. The Director will play a pivotal role in developing key technical solutions for Radio City and the Christmas Spectacular. The Director Show Systems Technology will be overseeing key areas including Show Control, Projection, Video, Drones and Venturing (R&D) ensuring they are aligned with business goals and keeping pace with technological trends. The Director Show Systems Technology must have a mix of business sense and technical knowledge as well as a willingness and ability to learn and stay abreast of new innovations in entertainment technology.
What will you do?
- Manage the Show Technology department for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular
- Oversee the integration of new technology into the Christmas Spectacular, working cross-functionally with all teams including Creative, Venue, Productions and union crews
- Foster a collaborative environment, liaising between cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless integration of show technology into the Christmas Spectacular.
- Develop and maintain key customer and vendor relationships.
- Identify, develop, and implement production technical solutions.
- Present new and inventive technical solutions to Show Productions team
- Develop budgets and manage resources in conjunction with production and operational needs for all Show Technology projects
- Oversee project status, communicating budgets, milestones, and deliverables.
- Manage projects to implement and/or upgrade technology into the production
- Support year-round Rockette programming, including auditions and dancer development programming
- Maintain existing show system and oversee yearly maintenance and upgrades
- Develop, document, and implement key testing, quality assurance, and maintenance solutions across existing technical solutions.
- Work to plan and implement workflow designs to keep pace with and plan for future requirements.
- Oversee and support Show Technology needs for future Radio City and Rockette productions and events
What do you need to succeed?
- This candidate should have 8-10 years of live theatrical, media, and event technology experience.
- Should have both supervisor, support, design, and integration experience in theatrical, production, networking, and media technologies including and in High Definition, Digital, Film, and Analog video, audio, control, and networking formats.
- Strong research, project management and strategic planning skills with respect to technology planning as it relates to productions and live events.
- Strong knowledge, integration and support experience of various technology disciplines related directly with live theatrical event productions:
- Networking & Servers – IP, TCP, VLAN, SNMP network topologies architecture design and support. Preferred experience, certification and/or training in: Windows, Unix, Linux, Cisco Networks (CCNA) in support of shows and live events.
- Audio Systems – Playback, Mixing, PA’s, Intercom, Wireless Microphones, IFB’s, IEM’s, Monitoring. Preferred experience, certification and/or training in: Meyer Sound, Wildtracks, Digico SD7, Riedel Intercom, Yamaha DM2000, or equivalent
- Visual Systems – Media Servers, LED Wall Systems, Projection Systems, File Formats, Distribution Routing, Image Processing, MAM, Camera Systems. Preferred experience, certification and/or training in: 7th Sense Delta, Disguise, Folsom, Avid, FCP, Kramer, Christie Boxers, Daktronics, Advantage/Revolution LED, Sony, Panasonic, Blackmagic, AJA, or equivalent.
- Control Systems – Show Control, Stage Automation, Rigging Systems, House Clock, Sync Pulse, Wireless Systems. Preferred experience, certification, and/or training in: Medialon Show Manager, Evertz MC, TAIT Navigator, Raynock Automation, DMX Wireless, WiFi Formats, or equivalent.
- Staging and Rigging Systems – Various experience ideal.
- Drones – Various experiences ideal.
- CAD, Vectorworks or other 3D drafting/modeling software experience preferred
- Software, Database, and Coding – Application programming and fluent usage of various software programs. Preferred experience, certification and/or training in: C++, JAVA, Windows, Mac OSX, Medialon, Nagios, SQL, or equivalent.
- Design, Business, and PM Software Applications – Preferred experience, certification and/or training in ACAD, MS Project, Excel, 3D Modeling, Visio, PowerPoint, procurement applications.
- Must have experience managing groups of at least 12 people on long /short term basis.
- Must be well versed in working with production teams to verify technical facility needs of specific show elements and requirements.
- Must be able to perform management’s duties such as prepare budgets, create timelines and deliverables, manage short term and long-term projects, evaluate new technologies, prepare reports, and process improvements.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and document new technologies in a streamlined method and help to introduce such to new productions and end users.
- Experience working in a technical position with supervisory responsibilities in a Touring Event, Live Event Venues, Media and Entertainment, Live Productions, Theatrical Productions, or live audience experiences desired.
- Experience with camera operations, media asset management, editing and archiving, administration of assets and access rights ideal.
- Should be able to conceptualize, design, draw, present, project manage and commission the integration of technical projects for shows from idea to inception.
- Strong communication skills, verbal, written, demonstrative, presentation, and good listening skills.
