Assistant Costume Supervisor

Who are we hiring?
The Assistant Costume Supervisor reports to the Costume Supervisor and assists with any costume related needs. The Assistant Costume Supervisor assists in the oversight of the all costume creation and costume shop needs. This is a non union seasonal position that is 40 hours a week but does overtime if approved usually around Technical rehearsals.
What will you do?
- Swatch and purchase fabrics for new designs/ refurbishments
- Conduct fittings at Radio City Costume Shop and outside vendors
- Work with outside vendors to guide them through new builds and make sure they have all the supplies, measurements, and documentation that is needed
- Pack, ship and or transport costumes and fabrics as needed
- Shop costume pieces as instructed by Costume Supervisor
- Work With Shoe Supervisor to pass over ensemble shoes that have been fit and inform of what shoes are for what scene
- Write Costume Breakdowns based on what has been fit and altered
- Inventory, purchase, and assign tights/ socks in collaboration with Assistant Wardrobe Supervisor
- Work with Wardrobe Supervisor and Assistant Wardrobe Supervisors to explain costume breakdowns and ensure each performer is wearing the correct garment
- Take notes during technical rehearsal and conduct refits on garments
- Document new costumes in costume bible
- Reconcile Purchasing Card Charges and Pass over Receipts to Costume Supervisor
What do you need to succeed?
- 2-3 years prior experience designing costumes.
- Experience in working within a production environment
- Ability to multitask while maintaining focus on a continuous deadline
- Proven track record of supervising employees in a similar industry preferred.
- Exceptional organizations skills, high attention to detail and excellent communication
- Independent initiative while fostering a positive team environment
Special Requirements
- Able to walk and stand long periods of time
- Must be available 4 days a week including Sundays and holidays as needed
